Educate & Prevent Underage Drinking | Beyond the Bell | Georgia

Are you concerned about underage drinking? Do you have a child or teen who you think should be educated in the dangers of underage drinking? Do you live in the Conyers, GA, Decatur, GA, or Savannah, GA area? Visit Beyond the Bell at www.beyondthebellkids.org and find out how you can help in our mission to provide effective prevention programs, interventions and/or treatment to reduce substance abuse among youth.

Beyond The Bell has begun a community wide campaign based on data collected within our focus communities during FY’14. Our communities include: DeKalb County, Rockdale County, Upson County, and Chatham County. Beyond The Bell is dedicated to providing an awareness campaign using social media to educate young adults 9-20 of the dangers of the use and abuse of alcohol and marijuana.

Underage drinking and marijuana use among 9-20 year olds have been identified in DeKalb County, Rockdale County, Upson County and Chatham County as issues affecting our community. Beyond The Bell, along with the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities provides tools and evidence – based strategies to train, educate, and support youth and families in the prevention of alcohol, marijuana, and tobacco use and abuse.

One of our programs is our Active parenting program. Active Parenting is an evidenced-based program that brings parents and teens together to learn how to communicate and value each other’s opinions. The program encourages family meetings to foster conversations about anti-bullying and the prevention of alcohol and other drug use. Active Parenting also provides training and support for families experiencing the dynamics of teen development.
